CFRP tubes and CFRP shafts

CFRP tubes and shafts are manufactured using prepreg winding technology. The fibre volume ratio is around 55 %. Epoxy resin or cyanate ester resin serves as the matrix. CFRP tubes and shafts are made of high tensile (HT) carbon fibres as standard. High modulus (HM) carbon fibres and ultra-high modulus (UHM) carbon fibres or a combination of different fibre types are also possible on request.

Fibre alignment (orientation) of our CFRP tubes

Depending on the type of fibre and its orientation, different properties result for a CFRP tube. Depending on the fibre angle used, a wide variety of laminate properties can be specifically set.

• Unidirectional fibre orientation (in the longitudinal direction of the pipe): high bending stiffness, high tensile-compressive strength
Fibre trajectory90° (in radial direction of the pipe): high pressure stability against radial load
Fibre course ±45°: high stiffness against torsional load
Fibre course 0/90° woven (plain or twill weave): creates typical carbon optics
 

CFRP shaft - successful through quality

A highly regarded product is the CFRP shaft with bearing ring and hub. The shafts are characterised by perfect concentricity and optimum fitting accuracy.

• CFRP tubes can be produced with an inner diameter of 3 to 90 mm.
• The outer diameter depends on your specifications or the layer structure.

The maximum producible length of a CFRP tube is 3000 mm (depending on the winding core).

We offer all CFRP tubes in the surface qualities winding-rough, grinded and & lacquered. Choose between various lacquers:
• Clear lacquer glossy
• Clear lacquer matt
• Numerous RAL colours

Upon customer request, we drill, mill, bond and print our carbon fibre reinforced tubes.

 

GFRP pipes | Glass-fibre reinforced plastic tubes

We manufacture all GFRP tubes using prepreg winding technology. In this process, so-called prepregs (fabrics or scrims pre-impregnated with resin) are wound around metal mandrels in a special procedure. The fibre volume ratio is around 55%. Epoxy resin or phenolic resin serves as the matrix.

Areas of application for our GFRP tubes

From automotive to mechanical engineering to consumer electronics - GFRP tubes are light, dimensionally stable and durable. Therefore they are perfect for a wide variety of purposes.

For applications where increased heat resistance is required, GFRP tubes with a matrix of phenolic resin are used. These glass-fibre reinforced plastic pipes have a low smoke emission, are resistant to temperatures of over 200° C and are self-extinguishing.

The fibre course of our GFRP tubes is approx. 70% in axial and 30% in radial direction. As standard, CG TEC offers glass-fibre reinforced plastic tubes in the colour anthracite. On request, we also process prepregs in the colours olive and white. The aluminium-vapourised twill design fabric Alutex ensures a high-quality appearance.

CFRP tubes manufactured in prepreg winding technology are available in different variants. A distinction can be made between ground and high-gloss carbon tubes, CFRP tubes with a visible winding surface and unidirectionally ground tubes.

GFRP tubes manufactured in prepreg winding technique are available in different variants, e.g. also with a CFRP twill cover layer or a canvas cover layer. Prepreg winding technology is designed to produce GFRP tubes with the highest possible fibre content. The anthracite coloured, ground glass fibre tubes have a bidirectional design with 70% below 0° fibre angle and 30% below fibre angle of 90°. The white glass-fibre tubes are ground and, like the olive-green tubes, are non-conductive, unlike the anthracite-coloured tubes. They also have a bidirectional design 0°/90° as well as an external tolerance of ± 0.1 millimetres and can be telescopic if desired. Our GFRP tubes are semi-finished products of the highest quality. Thanks to low diameter tolerances, precise further processing is guaranteed at all times. The GFRP tubes are manufactured on state-of-the-art systems.
